Former Lance Bank In Trouble

Washington AP reports federal regulators suspended trading of National Bank of Georgia stock for 10 days due to unusual volume and price moves. The bank, once led by Bert Lance who resigned as Carter budget director, saw his 200,000 shares face value declines and potential sale plans amid ongoing investigations. The move targets caution for dealers and shareholders while Lance remains an unofficial adviser to Carter. The suspension runs until December 14 and follows prior disclosures of Lance negotiating to sell part of his stake at a premium, potentially aiding his debt obligations.
