He worked at Montgomery Ward Ottawa and served as Franklin County Commissioner for 16 years. Surviving Delma Eve Mavity, son Gary, daughter Teri, four grandchildren. Interment Highland Cemetery. Ivan William Rappard 91 died December 2 2003 in Raymore Missouri. Funeral 10:30 AM Thursday at St Pauls United Methodist Church Raymore. Born October 7 1912 in Globe he farmed then worked at Pipperts Auto Parts and Farmland Industries. Married Opal May Landis September 29 1938 in Kansas City. Survives with daughter Janice Klamm and Pat Linnhoff, nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren. Visitation 9:30 AM Thursday. burial Wordon Fellowship of St Pauls UMC.

Kenneth Joe Newton aged 73 of Osawatomie died November 27 2003 at Miami County Medical Center Paola. He served in the Army 1951 1953 in Japan and Korea and later worked as a brick mason and engineer for Panhandle Eastern Pipeline. He was active in local boards including Public Safety Advisory Board Osawatomie Planning Commission and organized local Black Scout troop and Black Ties group. Burial with military honors at Osawatomie Cemetery follows viewing Friday night and Saturday funeral service with Masonic rites.
Sudanese rebel delegation led by insurgent leader John Garang will travel to Khartoum on Friday for high level talks aimed at ending Sudan's 20 year civil war. The group includes a member of the leadership council of the Sudan People’s Liberation Army.

Born October 7 1918 in Wichita he served in World War II and had a long law enforcement career from Eureka to Osawatomie. Survived by a daughter and a grandson.
