Rivals in same sub state meet Sabres, Braves, ineligible for title
Ottawa and Sumner Academy, both in Baldwin City sub state, cannot meet for the state championship this season after sub state alignments released. Sumner is No. 1 in the preseason poll, Ottawa No. 6, and St James No. 7 in the same sub state as the rivals. Sub state tournaments run Feb. 27 through March 3 with other area teams placed in nearby regions.
