Weight classes change in high school wrestling for 23 years
High school wrestling faces its most significant shift in 23 years as 10 of 14 weight divisions gain three pounds. The 106 to 285 pound classes show changes except for 145, 152, 160 which stay the same in a new order. Wellsville plans a smaller lineup with 15 wrestlers under coach Andy Wright and senior Jesse Eidtes at 160. Central Heights benefits from lighter classes while filling heavier divisions. coach Randy Hinderliter notes depth and upperclassmen help, with 12-15 wrestlers and plans for a strong season. The Anderson County Bulldogs and Prairie View, Osawatomie plants, join regional plans as teams gear up for Fort Scott and Iola events.
