Blast Leaves Ten Exposed To Radioactivity At Hanford Plant

Resin beads in a chemical process may have failed when nitric acid hit them triggering an explosion at a Hanford reprocessing facility. Ten workers and nurses were contaminated. eight were washed and sent home, two nurses returned to work. One worker injured by flying glass received the highest radiation dose. Investigators barred entry for 24 hours as authorities assess cause.
