Students bicycle 4500 miles reenacting barnstorming era
Nine Northwest high school students from Chief Sealth High School in Seattle completed a 4500 mile bike trek titled Legends of the Road. They rode through 350 cities in eight states and parts of western Canada, playing 32 games to mirror early Negro leagues barnstorming. The effort informs the Negro Leagues Museum Buck O'Neil Center and a fall video documentary, with coach Gary Thomsen noting gaps in Major League Baseball's recognition of Black players.
