Overpayments Concern SSA
The Social Security Administration plans to recoup about 125 million dollars from more than 641 thousand Americans deemed to have received excess benefits under the blind aged and disabled program. An initial list of 2,667 overpayments of over 5 thousand dollars each was sent from Baltimore to district offices, with another 58 thousand believed to have received at least 1 thousand dollars in excess benefits to be mailed this week. Officials acknowledge full recovery is unlikely and the effort ranks as significant.
