Cowboys Of The Hay Field
Lee Figgins of Pomona and his crew haul hay with a Dew Eze wagon from June to August. The men load 65 to 70 pound bales at speeds up to 50 mph to the barn loft, earning about 3.5 cents a bale and up to $3,000 for the season. Figgins calls it hard hot work but a stable living and a source of pride.
