A collage of snappy items from a Saturday notebook including pine tree eating, a Pittsburg editor renaming an owl watergate, a Watergate defendant James McCord speaking at EU, milk prices topping a dollar, manure bottled for sale, and Ottawa mayor remarks at a teachers’ reception. The notes mix crimes jokes and light political jabs with local flavor.

The department notes Class I minimums are below many market prices. The article also covers a cattle tagging rule requiring origin identification for most cattle two years old or older shipped across state lines.
Jazz pianist Hazel Scott will appear as a famous New York aunt at a niece wedding on ABC TV's One Life to Live. She credits Tallulah Bankhead for sparking interest in soaps and says the appearance came after head writer Gordon Russell saw her act and proposed an episode.
