Collector-wil Has His Marbles By Kenneth Cape
Cherryvale resident L O Martindale has marbles from Rhode Island and Alaska plus eight foreign countries stored in two rooms of his home. He has collected for over 20 years, adding jars and shelves as his hobby grew. Friends routinely bring back marbles from trips, and he recalls bidding auctions up to 2.50 for pieces. His pride includes large marbles the size of golf balls, including barbershop and candy stripe varieties, with a rabbit motif in one. He and his wife have four children aiding the displays, even sewing marbles into a Christmas shirt for him.
