Group Contends US Population Bigger Hidden figures cited

Washington AP report says a private Environmental Fund contends the US population is 222.2 million, 6.5 million above official counts, with lower birth and death rates than government data. It argues Census undercounted 5.3 million 1970 census omissions and more than one million illegal immigrants, urging immigration restrictions and lower birth rates to curb growth. The fund also estimates world population at 4.24 billion midyear, significantly above Census figures, warning of carrying capacity and looming crises.
