Thompson, Thorpe, Heyns break world swimming records
Jenny Thompson won the 100 meter butterfly in 57.88 seconds at the Pan Pacific Championships in Sydney, breaking Mary Meagher's 18 year old mark as Ian Thorpe and Penny Heyns each set new world records in the 200 free and 100 breast respectively. Susie O Neill and Grant Hackett were paced second and near misses as the meet produced multiple record efforts.
