Pomona native honored in Berlin and Kiwanis honors

Merle L. Farris a Pomona native and veterinarian returned to Morristown Tennessee after attending the Army Medical Activity Drawdown Honors Ceremony in Berlin Germany where he led the 168th Medical Detachment Veterinary Service for World War II era Berlin airlift service. Also recognized were the 298th Band led by Pomona man Warrant Officer James Abel. Ottawa Kiwanis officers John Schulte and Brenda Guenther received district honors at Hutchinson Kansas. Ottawa dancer Theresa Altic won third place in a Showbiz National Dance Competition duet at Bartle Hall Missouri. Charles and Marge Stevens represented First Christian Church at a Colorado Lay Advisory Board Meeting in Denver for the Colorado Christian Home.
