Funeral firm sued for falsely claiming VFW affiliation
Pittsburgh based Celestial Life Planning Inc. and president Joseph M. Stabile face a state civil suit and temporary injunction by Attorney General Jerry Pappert. The case seeks restitution for 28 customers in 10 states who paid for funeral goods or services not delivered or altered from promises. The firm advertised with American Legion and other groups, targeting veterans, though licensing agreements with major organizations had been terminated since 2002. The company offered caskets vaults and urns with military emblems but reportedly lacked proper licensing. The organizations said Celestial’s site claimed service to the VFW and FOP, prompting use of a trust statement.
