The Board of Education meets the second Monday of every month at 7 30 p m at the Board of Education Office 420 South Main Public notice is given prior to any special meeting through the local news media Board members may act only during Board meetings or when authorized by the entire Board
Policy outlines how to place an item on the school board agenda. Requests must be written to the Superintendent at least five days before the meeting and include requester details, organization information, action sought, and background. Visitors have agenda and nonagenda speaking times, but items must be on the agenda before action.
The Ottawa Board of Education commits to public information transparency. Minutes of all meetings are available for inspection at the Board Office. Copies of the Policy Handbook can be requested by calling or visiting the Board Office at 420 South Main. media representatives from the Ottawa Times Ottawa Herald KOFO Radio regularly attend and report proceedings.
New staff list includes Mr. Don Duncan principal at Ottawa High School with five years teaching and eight in administration, plus Ms Melany Michael and others across Ottawa area schools. Staff spans science, mathematics, language arts, foreign language, and special services with varied degrees and up to fifteen years teaching in some cases.
The USC 290 School District states compliance with federal and state anti discrimination laws across admission access and employment. Grievance procedures for Title IX and Section 504 exist and complaints may be directed to Dr. Roger Nelson in Ottawa Kansas or the OCR regional office in Kansas City Missouri. All students may participate in programs regardless of race color national origin age handicap or sex.
