Daily Report details Ottawa area arrests this Thursday

Hospital notes show admissions for Donald Miller in Ottawa. Sheriff’s deputies arrested D Ledom of Ottawa on community corrections authorization at 8 47 am. Jennifer Gregg of Osawatomie was stopped for speeding with no insurance and a mismatched license plate and was held on suspicion of DWL S at 1 47 pm. Michael Collins of Paola held on Franklin County warrant at 5 59 pm. Patrick Stoneking of Pomona arrested on Franklin County warrant for felony theft and four counts of criminal use of a financial card at 1 55 am. Ottawa Police arrested Adam Hamilton at 12 53 pm on an Ottawa warrant and Michael Reaves homeless at 4 26 pm on suspicion of DWL S and open container.

Deer Strike Causes Injury Near Quenemo

A Friday morning motorcycle crash on K-68 at Arkansas Road involved Allen Zielsdorf, 50, of Quenemo. He was eastbound when a deer struck the bike. Zielsdorf was transported to Ransom Memorial Hospital. Property damage was estimated above $1,000.

Theft and vandalism reports in Ottawa area

Police log lists thefts and a vandalism incident. At 800 North King Street a 58 year old Ottawa woman reports items stolen from her home. At 1000 East North Street a 51 year old Ottawa man says an unknown suspect entered his vehicle and stole items. A 60 year old Ottawa woman reports her car damaged at 700 West Second Street.

Wellsville Police Log Highlights Thursday Incidents

Wellsville police report shows incidents on Thursday at 600 Main Street for criminal damage and trespassing, 600 East Seventh Street for a lost child, 400 Pine Street for traffic complaint, 900 Poplar Street for public assist, 600 Main Street for a medical issue.

Ottawa Fire Department Responds to Vehicle Fire

At 11:57 p.m. Thursday the Ottawa Fire Department responded to a passenger vehicle fire at 1004 East Seventh Street. Firefighters arrived to control the blaze and prevent spread to nearby structures. No injuries are reported and the cause is under investigation.

Deborah Jacobsen 62 Baldwin City obituary notices

Deborah K Jacobsen 62 of Baldwin City died August 16 2011 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was born June 5 1949 in Ransom Memorial Hospital Ottawa Kansas and grew up on a Franklin County farm before moving to Ottawa as a teen and graduating in 1967. She worked at a downtown Ottawa clothing store and later as a compositor typesetter at the Ottawa Herald before moving to Muskegon Michigan in 1969 and later managing restaurants. She retired in 2005 returning to Kansas to be near her siblings. She is survived by her daughter Lavone Payne grandson Michael Masar Jr four brothers and four sisters with numerous nieces and nephews. The family will hold private memorial services September 4 2011. Memorial donations are requested to the Douglas County Visiting Nurses Rehabilitation Hospice. Condolences may be left online.

Obituary: Roberta J. Bishop of Pomona Kansas dies at 54

Roberta J Bishop 54 of Pomona Kansas died Tuesday August 16 2011 at her home. Born October 26 1956 in Wathena Kansas she was a lifelong Franklin County resident and homemaker who also drove school bus and volunteered for the Ottawa Senior Center. She married Charles W Bishop July 13 1974 in Ottawa and they shared 37 years together. Survived by husband three sons Shane Bishop Kirk Bishop and Nicholas Bishop sister Malinda Bellinger eleven grandchildren and four deceased. Funeral 2 p.m. Tuesday August 23 2011 at Lamb Roberts Funeral Home Ottawa with interment at Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorials to American Heart Association.

Ottawa History Highlights Include Workplace Injury and Ancient Wall Find

Local historian Louis Reed notes Miss Dora Donald was injured at the Home Telephone office when a blade from a revolving electric fan struck her temple.
