South Hutchinson police report six handguns and three rifles stolen from a local gun store when thieves shattered a plate glass door with a cinder block just after 3 a.m. Police Chief Dennis Stofer identified the time of the burglary.
LAWRENCE AP A Kansas official was reprimanded for dropping a driver's license hearing for Lawrence police officer Todd Polson who failed a breathalyzer after a November accident and was later acquitted of DUI. Department action cites post operation alcohol use as grounds for the hearing dismissal. Polson had passed field sobriety tests but failed the breath test.
Stocks showed Casey's GenSt at 13 1/2, H&R Block at 55 7/8, WalMart 46 11/16, and O'Reilly Auto 38 3/16. Grain quotes for Thursday include hard wheat 2.43, corn 1.70, milo 2.79, soybeans 4.30, oats, with Franklin County prices listing wheat 2.35, corn 1.67, milo 2.58, soybeans 4.26.

Kansas grain handlers warn of a potential 80 to 100 million bushel fall storage shortage despite adding over 100 million bushels of new space. The estimate comes from the Kansas Grain and Feed Association and highlights a crisis as production nears 1.14 billion bushels for the four major crops.
