Botswana farming study aims to boost farmer earnings
Kansas State University economist David Norman and Midwest land grant researchers launch a year project in Botswana to improve farm earnings. Botswana has under a million people, a harsh climate, and most farming relies on animal power with oxen. Many small farms are less than 5 hectares and face malnutrition during dry years due to limited tillage capacity and poor animal condition. Crops include milo millet groundnuts peanuts pumpkins melons and cowpeas.
