Adult Education Center Opens in Ottawa Kansas
An adult education center opened Monday at 123 E. 2nd with 76 participants by Wednesday. Funded 90 percent by HEW through the State Department of Education and 10 percent by Unified School District 290, the four thousand square foot center is directed by Harry Mallard of ECKAN on a non salaried basis. The center offers adult basic education and GED test preparation free of charge, with GED testing available by appointment for seven dollars. Classes include English as a second language and will expand to typing, bookkeeping, and shorthand if demand exists, with evening sessions and referrals from ECKAN and local agencies.

Robert E. Linnenman of Ottawa RFD 2 was charged in Municipal Court with 11 counts following a Monday chase from Forest Park to Wilson and Davis.
