Kansas Official Is Comsat Nominee
Gorham Kansas businessman George W. Murphy, 56, president of Gorham Telephone Co., is nominated by his wife Almira and two sons for a seat on the Comsat board to guide the global satellite network. Murphy, a former Bell System employee who bought the company in 1944, is active in civic life and an avid hunter. The nomination reflects family stock in Comsat and hopes a small shareholder may influence the new international body.
