Olathe Library Budget Upheld After Tax Lid Ruling
Attorney General Bob Stephan ruled the Olathe Library Board is not bound by the state tax lid law. The board will operate with an $848,000 budget next year, restored by the city council after earlier cuts to $648,769. The ruling says the library board’s charter exemption from the 1988 lid law is not repealed. Local library boards are a separate subdivision. the city must levy the board’s budget.
