Rates on rail shipment of coarse grains and grain products from the Midwest to Great Lakes and Gulf ports start Saturday. The Interstate Commerce Commission will not interfere for now. Kansas City Southern lowered grain rates to Gulf ports to 42 cents per 100 pounds, with other railroads cutting similar amounts from Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska and Minnesota. The Inland Waterways Association protested, warning possible end of barge service on the Missouri River. Shipping interests in Chicago Milwaukee protested the Gulf rate cuts.
