Felix slows near Cape Hatteras threatening Outer Banks coast

Hurricane Felix weakened slightly as it neared the Carolinas with 80 mph winds. Residents and boat owners on Hatteras Island braced for a delay in the coastward blow while some marinas reported few boats remaining and others prepared by boarding windows and tying down vessels. Joe Morris of Teach's Lair Marina chose to stay to oversee boats despite evacuation orders.

Fire EMS group meets at Ottawa station Thursday

The Franklin County Fire fighters and EMS Association will meet at 7 30 p m Thursday at the Ottawa fire station 720 W 2nd. Joe Scweiger of Cutler Township Fire Dept says the bi monthly meeting will cover preparations for the Muscular Dystrophy Association boot block on Labor Day.
