Kansas State University plant pathologists report 1979 wheat disease losses at about 40 million bushels from a 385.2 million bushel yield estimate, down from 1978 and 1977 levels. Crown rots and dryland foot rot led the damage, with Sailborne mosaic and other diseases affecting eastern two-thirds and irrigated sands near the Arkansas River. Nine Future Homemakers of America from Pomona and Central Heights attended a leadership camp at Kansas State University.
