Gordon back stiff after crash at Watkins Glen
NASCAR champion Jeff Gordon said he will race this weekend at Michigan International Speedway despite a stiff back from a brutal Monday crash at Watkins Glen. The six-car incident involved Jeff Gordon, Jeff Burton, and Sam Hornish Jr, with Hornish hit off course into a tire barrier, then Gordon hitting a steel fence. Safety chief Travis Geisler praised car safety but urged Watkins Glen to add energy-absorbing barriers and gravel runoff near Turn 9 to reduce impact. Leffler also had a single-car practice crash into a tire barrier.
