Kansas job loss soars in first half of 1986
Kansas reports 88 business closings and 6,468 unemployed in six months, far surpassing all of 1985. Johnson Wyandotte and Leavenworth counties hardest hit with 22 closings and 3,208 jobless. Officials cite oil, aviation downturns and slow private investment as factors. New constitutional amendments aim to spur growth via private financing and tax exemptions.
