Franklin County tackles low water bridge repair project
At the Franklin County commissioners meeting the plan to repair Labette Road low water bridge east of Ottawa was approved with conditions. Landowner Don Hay offered fenceposts through rip rap in return for written easement and rip rap maintenance along the creek. County will use soil from Hay’s property for fill and rechannel the creek under a new box culvert 60 to 80 feet west, raising the road bed six feet at an estimated cost of $100,000. A state permit is needed to proceed.
