Cardinals Trade Heath to Tigers for Hill and Player to Be Named
St Louis manager Whitey Herzog noted catcher Mike Heath was unhappy in his stint with the Cardinals. Heath, hitting .205 with four homers and 25 RBIs, was traded to Detroit with pitcher Ken Hill and a future player for Heath. The Tigers moved to create room after Lance Parrish’s return from the disabled list. Hill, a 20 year old right-hander, started in Class A and AA before the deal. The Cardinals also purchased Steve Lake's contract from Louisville and noted Parrish’s back injury.
