Kennedy Pushes Picketing Bill Through Senate Subcommittee

Senator John F. Kennedy steered a picketing bill through a Senate Labor subcommittee amid a brief clash with Barry Goldwater over quorum. The measure, backed by organized labor, would ease restrictions on picketing construction projects involved in multi-contractor disputes and override the Taft-Hartley Act ban on secondary boycotts. The bill proceeds to the full Labor Committee with Lyndon Johnson backing its early consideration.
