Ninety Seven Franklin County Graduates Parade for Exercise

Ninety seven graduates from Franklin County schools formed a procession at the courthouse square led by Gormly's Band and marched to the park for graduation exercises though an expected larger turnout was delayed by the A.G. Barnes circus parade. The Barnes show arrived at Sheldon pasture and featured 24 lions in the arena with master trainer Louis Roth. The Silkville ranch, owned by Ernest de Boissiere and deeded to the Odd Fellows as an orphans home, was sold to John O. Patterson and David H. Hudson for a nominal price amid a long court history. A new five story Ottawa investment Co building was planned for Third and Main, vitrified brick with a steel frame. Clarence Peacock, Ottawa University orchestra director, returned for the Assembly and potential relocation with their children. Many out-of-town visitors arrived for the Assembly season over a dry season and Colorado vacationers in Forest Park.
