Weather Outlook Shows Rain and Thunder Across Regions
Rain was forecast from the Mid Atlantic to the Tennessee Valley, Mississippi Valley and the Plains. Thunderstorms were expected in the Missouri Valley Central Plains and Southern states. Additional thunderstorms were anticipated in Oregon eastern Washington Idaho and western Montana. Rain was predicted along the Washington coast.

Felony charges reduced against Riverton High students
Five Riverton High School students in Kansas saw felony counts of incitement to riot and criminal threat dropped to a single misdemeanor conspiracy to riot. The case, moved to Cherokee County, stems from an April arrest tied to a Myspace post about a school shooting plot, with one teen previously charged by the attorney general for solicitation to commit murder.

Baldwin Junction traffic study prompts safety poll
A Kansas traffic review shows 36 crashes at Baldwin Junction from 2002 to 2005, with 7,800 vehicles daily on U.S. 59 and 2,390 on U.S. 56 westbound. No fatalities then, but at least three deaths since April. A Web poll on ottawaherald.com finds 38 percent doubt improvement, 32 percent favor a roundabout, 16 percent back a four way stop, others split among options.

Ottawa shooter Chris Dunlap claimed the International Handgun Metallic Silhouette Association championship in New Philadelphia Ohio by scoring 9 of 10 in the Unlimited Any Scope category using a Remington XP 7BR pistol. He reached 80 straight hits earlier in the week and is among about 1 000 competitors from the U S Canada and Brazil. The Dunlaps compete at the Ottawa Williamsburg Wildlife Conserv. Club with matches monthly April through November and travel frequently for events.
