KCAC football aims higher as national eyes turn
Ottawa coach Kent Kessinger notes parity grows within the KCAC as four teams from last year remain strong entering 2014. Preseason polls show Sterling atop coaches, Ottawa and Friends near top, with Tabor, Bethany, Southwestern and Bethel improving, while new Kansas Wesleyan, McPherson and Saint Mary coaches bring unknowns. The Braves expect 90 to 100 players, with seven defensive starters back led by Deron Bruce, and senior leaders shaping a tougher defense and offense led by Luke Lundy and Michael Behr. Ottawa opens against ranked Baker and Benedictine, creating early playoff atmosphere.
