Wellsville student earns Kansas Governor’s Scholar award
Treesa Jo Dowling of Wellsville High School has been named the Governor’s Scholar from Kansas earning a full scholarship to Interlochen Arts Camp in Michigan. She has competed in youth symphonies, performed at the Suzuki World Conference, and plans to pursue conducting with studies at Curtis Eastman or Yale.

End of Email War Over Spam Blocking at UUNet
In Richmond, angry computer users halted a vigilante protest after UUNet Technologies pledged tougher spam controls. Protesters blocked Usenet postings, erasing over 80 000 messages in 24 hours, while UUNet chief John Sidgmore called the action cyberterrorism and considered legal steps. UUNet said it would blacklist spammers and defend its ISP status as the largest.
