Garnett approves budget buys computers hires coach
Garnett boards approves 1992-93 general fund budget of 5,087,000 with 52.8 mill levy. They bought 18 IBM computers for the Anderson County Junior-Senior High School lab costing 57,247 and purchased a district car and van for 13,361 and 20,116. Chris Davis was hired as high school boys basketball coach to replace David Bisette who resigns to take a job at Oswego. Construction of the new high school is 98 percent complete with open house scheduled for Sept. 27 and keynote speaker Sen. Bob Dole invited.

Kansas expands the Baby Your Baby program from Wichita to northeast Kansas to reach young pregnant women and stress prenatal care. The effort targets reducing babies under 5.5 pounds at birth and deaths from inadequate prenatal care after 1990 saw 6.2 percent underweight births and 325 infant deaths.
