Private Rocket Test Ends in Blazing Explosion on Matagorda Island
A privately owned Space Services rocket exploded during a five second engine test on Matagorda Island Texas. No injuries were reported though the blast damaged the system and set back the launch program by at least six months with cost estimates over 1.2 million dollars. Chief engineer Gary C Hudson called the ignition a total loss as orange flame erupted from the nozzle.
