Jones wins attorney shot in Franklin County primary
With all but one precinct counted, Heather Jones led the Franklin County attorney race with more than 53 percent of the votes against John Dowell. Dowell, the outgoing incumbent, will leave the post in January 2005, as Jones will become county attorney after the election in November. The clerk’s office celebrated as Ohio Township precinct results awaited.

Jones wins Franklin County election in tight race
Jones received 1 993 votes to Dowell's 1 759, a margin of more than 200 and over 46 percent. Supporters celebrated at Pizza Village after the count. Jones, a Franklin County resident since 2000, emphasized her prosecutorial work and stance on plea bargains contrasting with Dowell.

Incumbents hold key Franklin County races in primaries
In Franklin County primaries Republicans swept most races. Sheriff Craig Davis won re election with over 86 percent amid no Democratic opposition. County Clerk Shaun Perry and Precinct 2 County Commissioner Ed Taylor also won GOP nominations, set to face Democratic challengers in November. Perry led with 2,222 votes. Taylor 72.11 percent. Davis defeated Rick Croucher 13.5 percent. Perry will face Donna Mietchen Ferguson, Taylor will face John C. Riddle. Democratic vote tallies: Morgan 165 over Maddox 92 in 3rd District Dem race. Republican results: Dunn 395, DeJulio 265, Barnhart 77 (withdrew).
