On With The Show, a vocal quartet of professional musicians and faculty from Kansas colleges, opens the Main Event Series at 7 30 pm on Saturday September 27. The program features Broadway favorites including The Sound of Music and Fiddler on the Roof with As Time Goes By from Casablanca and Moon River.
Baritone Jonah Kliewer performs Old Man River from Showboat while Ron Garber and Janet Ediger sing selections from Oklahoma and Carousel. Instrumental pieces include Pie in the Face Polka by Henry Mancini with Vada Snider and Ken Rodgers. Percussionist John Goering adds dynamic rhythm across several numbers.
The American Magic Lantern Theater presents authentic 1890s magic lantern shows in Ottawa with live costumed performers, storytelling, songs and audience participation. Two performances on Saturday January 31 at 2:30 pm and 7:30 pm feature hand painted color slides, dramatic dramatizations, and a view of the great-grandfather of cinema on CMA’s full size screen.
The River City Ramblers, a top St. Louis style Dixieland band, perform at 7 30 p m on Saturday April 4. Bob Ceccarini formed the group in 1973 with noted waterfront jazz players and they tour nationwide. The ensemble features Ceccarini trumpet Red Lehr sousaphone Pat Joyce piano Joe Buerger drums Elmer Feltner sax clarinet and John Becker banjo along with a new cable TV special and a recent recording.
Ronald Radford, famed Flamenco guitarist, and Tamara La Garbanella, UMKC dance faculty, headline Viva Flamenco at 7 30 pm on Friday November 21. The performance blends singing, dancing, and guitar with insightful cultural commentary, showcasing southern Spain’s fiery tradition.
A midwestern Yuletide music show blends German Swedish Czech and cowboy songs with Kansas acts The Plaid Family and Ann Zimmerman. Acoustical instruments Alabama fiddle dulcimer accordion piano audience participation and holiday surprises frame Yale Fest Weekend on Friday Dec 5 at 7 30 pm with free tickets for Season Members.
