Mysterious Means Broke Green's Slump

Dick Green, Kansas City's second baseman, rose from a poor .191 start to a .931 hitting stretch over six weeks, aided by a stint with different stances and bats. He said he would write down what he's doing right if he could, but noted teams should leave hitters alone when they’re hot. He added he had a 12-game streak with the same bat before switching and still produced in a 4-3 loss to Washington. Green, 25, from South Dakota, has shown sharp fielding at second base and now leads KC with six homers and 47 RBIs after 100 games.
