Online retailers pass personal data to marketing firm Coremetrics
Privacy groups call the practice an unforgivable breach of confidentiality as four online retailers reportedly share customers’ personally identifiable information with Coremetrics. Coremetrics says data are accessible to its staff and that clients should disclose their relationship, while sites encrypt orders to Coremetrics to analyze demographic and page‑level activity across vendors including ToysRUs and BabiesRUs. Privacy advocates urge stronger policy disclosures and enforcement.
