Editorial on Dole and Western Kansas districting fallout
An editorial argues that a federal court ruling striking down Kansas districts punishes Bob Dole by exposing the oversized First District created to aid his political future. It notes Dole’s 1961 Topeka lobbying and district expansion, and suggests the reform may threaten his 1962 bid as wheat growers gain favorable prices while judges challenge his prospects.
