Paul Mesner Puppets present Just So Stories at Unity Temple

The Paul Mesner Puppets stage Rudyard Kipling tales in May at Unity Temple on the Country Club Plaza. Morning and afternoon shows suit families with tickets $6, deaf friendly 2 p.m. Saturday May 6. Several May events across Kansas City area venues include ESU art exhibit and The Melody Lingers On at ESU, KU concerts, and Topeka Symphony Russian Rhapsody with varied ticket prices.

Trail funds linger as 1996 plan stalls in legislative wrapup

Anderson County officials report that $150 000 state support for a Richmond to Ottawa trail project is pending a Senate Ways and Means vote and House action. Federal funding hoped at $800 000 to finish phase two, with local support around $52 000. Construction on phase one from Richmond to Welda is not yet scheduled as plans await finalization. Local industry prospects shifted away as Garett pursued sites elsewhere and US Reel chose nearer Kansas City to cut transport costs. Agricultural students excel in state contests while crop prices shift with soybeans at 5 30 and wheat at 3 48. Community events include high school speech drama, golf meets, and a concert in Gamett. Bloodmobile date moved to Holy Angels School gymnasium.

Wellsville Math Team Dominates Pitts Relays With Many Medals

Wellsville sent 33 students to the Pittsburg State University Math Relays where more than 1,000 students from 46 schools competed. The Wellsville group earned 41 Top Ten finishes and 11 medals as five teams placed sixth or higher. Brock Chesbro and Russ Dwyer led with first place in programming and tied first in trigonometry, while numerous students earned high placements across categories.

Ottawa man among 220 sworn in as lawyers in Topeka

In Topeka at the Performing Arts Center two hundred twenty new lawyers were sworn in by clerks of state and federal courts. Federal Judge Richard D. Rogers and Kansas Supreme Court justices presided. Judge Edward Larson read the roll. among the new admittees was Michael David Burrichter of Ottawa.

Aging agency seeks services for seniors in six counties

The East Central Kansas Area Agency on Aging invites applications from public and private groups to provide age 60 plus services.
