Kansas World War II hero laid to rest in Arlington
Ensign Edward W. Riepl of Herndon Kansas, missing since his plane disappeared over the South Pacific, is buried at Arlington National Cemetery after DNA identified his remains. His brother and 40 veterans attended the service, with a caisson, firing party and flag presentation marking the ceremony.

The Kansas Supreme Court reversed a lower court ruling freeing Jason Chaney, convicted in 1996 of raping a 14 year old after she drank alcohol. The decision says a victim can be too drunk to consent yet still reject unwanted advances. Chaney remains imprisoned at Hutchinson Correctional Facility.
