Earth Day events span the nation with both praise and critique
President Bush paused a Florida Keys fishing trip to award Reef Relief a point of light for coral reef efforts. Missouri volunteers planted 10 000 trees along the Mississippi. Pennsylvania Governor Casey led an All Species Parade in Philadelphia. Critics say Earth Day shows awareness cycles and lasting change requires generations of work starting with children.
