SAIGON AP Another U S Air Force F111 fighter bomber crashed Monday night on a bombing mission against North Vietnam. Believed down somewhere in Thailand with two crewmen. It is the third of America s advanced warplanes to crash in Vietnam since mid March. Ground fighting near Saigon left 115 Viet Cong killed and seven South Vietnamese dead in a Mekong Delta clash. Government forces in the capital and nearby provinces remained on full alert.
Washington AP The Treasury is redeeming silver certificates at a record pace before the June 24 deadline. Dealers pay a premium for each certificate hoping to profit from the two price system as redeemable silver at $1.29 an ounce and resale above $2.00. About $31.75 million in silver certificates have been redeemed this year, including a March record $13.6 million, with April expected to run high. Redemptions are at New York and San Francisco assay offices only, in person or via an agent. no mail orders.
