Audit sharply critiques Franklin County IT department practices
The Franklin County Information Technology department faces audit criticism for poor documentation of purchases and assets and for employees leveraging technical jargon to abuse trust. Independent auditor Jason Parks told county commissioners that records were not monitored. He faulted limited cooperation from IT staff and noted the audit covered four years in two days. Parks cited a $318,000 storage area network purchase lacking justification and said commissioners were not shown ample, cheaper options. The IT director defended the process and urged more commissioner engagement.
