OU to show and discuss CSA by Kansas filmmaker Willmott
Lawrence based filmmaker Kevin Willmott will present his Sundance entry CSA The Confederate States of America at 7 p m Thursday in the Ottawa University Chapel. The free screening at 1001 S Cedar St kicks off OU s Lecture Event Series as Willmott, an associate professor at KU, discusses the alternative history documentary that imagines a Confederate victory and continues into the modern era. The piece blends talking head commentary with archival footage and satirical scenes including references to The Birth of a Nation and Leave It to Beulah. CSA depicts a society where slavery persists and the United States allies with Nazi Germany in a fictional timeline.

Baker Orange earns top honor for sixth time in eight years
The Baker University student newspaper The Baker Orange won the All Kansas Award for private four year colleges at the Collegiate Press annual journalism contest held April 10-11 in Wichita. Tara White, editor, and Joseph Vinduska, staff, interned at The Ottawa Herald in 2004 and 2005 Progress Editions respectively, with others receiving honorable mentions and multiple students listed on high honor and honor rolls.
