The Thursday night fire on Main Street destroyed the Corner Pocket and Rick's Auto Sound but both will seek new locations to reopen soon. Woolworth's and Albright's face smoke and water cleanup before reopening. Mack Price will open a new store in early May with a grand opening to follow. Next Monday, a second computer display open house will be offered.

Local Lawyer Honored By Defense Institute in New York
Ottawa attorney Richard O. Skoog received the Defense Research Institute Exceptional Performance Citation at the 15th National Conference in New York City on April 13. He led the Kansas Association of Defense during his presidency, expanding membership from 40 to 135 and guiding seven friend of the court briefs to the Kansas Supreme Court. Skoog, a longtime member, plans to hand over leadership next month and continues practice at Skoog & Latimer in Ottawa.
