Green revolution urged to fix hunger at KC meeting
At the International Food Aid Conference in Kansas City, World Food Programme chief Josette Sheeran urged a global push for a green revolution to empower local agriculture. She cited credit access, market gaps, and rising aid costs that strain relief efforts, while advocating buying from local farmers to cut transport costs and bolster economies. Sheeran noted U.S. wheat exports for aid and Kansas as a major wheat region amid debates over cash purchases versus US-sourced food aid.
