Burton wins Texas race cleanly for second time
Jeff Burton followed the leaders in the closing laps at Texas Motor Speedway to win the Samsung 500, denying Matt Kenseth and ending Hendrick Motorsports’ four race streak. Burton became the first driver to win twice at the 1 1/2 mile track, signaling a strong rise for Richard Childress Racing as Gordon and Kenseth each battled for the podium. Burton stressed racing with integrity after passing Kenseth for the lead on the backstretch late in the race.
