Radio upgrades advance for Franklin County emergency network
Franklin County emergency management director Alan Radcliffe said upgrades to the county radio network have begun with three tower sites identified and a fourth under negotiation. New repeaters will link responders to the 911 center across nearly all areas, funded largely by a Homeland Security grant, and provide a disaster backup. County Counselor Blaine Finch noted surveys and special-use permits, warning a nearby school site may face permit concerns to satisfy safety rules.
